Conflict

I have been facing this dilemma of whether or not what I actually like is same as what I believe? Sometime it happens that you see something you feel or appreciate something but the message behind that or the purpose or intention of such things you find hard to follow because of your beliefs. I find real life situation of this dilemma whenever I listen devotional music. The good thing with devotional poets (भक्तिकालीन कवियों ) is that they got beautiful language and style to portray their feelings. Moreover they have got talented singers and vocalists to render these beautifully written words. So any sensible person with enough understanding (of language or feeling) is very likely to appreciate that. I have been listening to these devotional creations a lot from various sects , cultures , religions and traditions. Almost all of them have enthralled me in their own ways. But when i think what i am listening and appreciating for its art , beauty and other features is not the one that i believe. For example When pt Bhimshen Joshi says 'उच्चारित राम होए पाप चर ' (mare speaking the name 'Ram' absolves you from all your sins), I accept that this is one of the most beautifully ways in which this can be said (vocally) but at same time i also know that this is not what i believe. The pain I feel in thought that something that I like is not the one that I believe makes me very sad. Sometimes I think about the extent to which our beliefs are shaped by such likings. We might start believing some things that we like even if somehow we know or doubt about their nature or truthfulness. That is where we start being emotional and irrational. Our sensuousness might shape our beliefs and we might start thinking that this beautiful thing must have some elements of truth that we can not understand. Even if we don't explicitly think that , the net effect on our beliefs may be same as the result of the conclusion of that thinking. i am still trying to understand if that really happens but still it is big question for me that how something that I like affects something that I believe.
